Farrow and Ball can be hit and miss however when a client insists all you can do is explain the possible time and cost implications and rely on your decorating expertise to ensure the job is done to the best of your painting abilities and complete the job to the clients satisfaction, as a painted and decorator you get a feel for the paint you are using and as soon as the brush touches a prepared wall you instantly know.... oh no. In the end the job took one third more paint than I origonally calculated and 2 additional days work but ended with wondeful looking bedrooms and hall and a pleased client, phew.
Little Green Livingroom
Little Greene "Hicks Blue" one of my favourite colours and paint manufacturers, painting with this deep rich blue give an instant classy feel to any painted wall or any other surface either using Little Greene's intelligent matt emulsion of eggshell. My client had not decorated this large victorian livingroom for several years and it took some repare and preperation before painting. The finished result was a room full of powerful colours in combination to dramatic effect.
Farrow & Ball Bedroom
This small attic was previously painted brillient white and the client contacted us to paint and redecorate the room they had previously had F & B in a another property and where keen to replicate the colour scheme. F&B recommend undercoat and 2 coats of estate emulsion. The finished painted home office looks professional and yet relaxing
Hand Painted Kitchen
This 15 year old B&Q laminated kitchen, was about to be replaced when the client contacted Bright Decor to enquire of the Kitchen could be painted or should be replaced, in general my answer is always “Yes” laminated doors just need the correct primer to allow good paint adhesion, choosing Otex and Little Greene for this. The finished Kitchen looks amazing and brings a totally new feel to a tired space.
Exterior house painting projects are a big deal they often involve scaffolding and accessing difficult to reach areas. We are experienced in carrying out all types of exterior painting and have years of experience in tackling masonry, woodwork and metal painting projects outside. This property hadn't had the exterior painted for many years and the old paint had begun to flake and discolour, nothing makes a bigger difference on an exterior painting project than a professional’s trusted touch.

Grand with wormth and comfort and featuring their signature motifs in Gold on Stone. The client and decorator where delighted with the finished room.
Hand Painted Kitchen
This cherry laminated MDF kitchen had extensive water damage to the doors and looked very tired, the client had a clear view of what they wanted, grey eggshell finish and new handles that would require the existing handle holes to be filled and new ones drilled in all doors and drawers. Bright Decor carried out all the work repairing the MDF and measuring and drilling new holes. The MDF was primed using Tikkurila Otex adhesion primer and finished with several coats of Little Greene Scree. The finished Kitchen looked so good that the clients family didn't believe it was the old kitchen units painted!

Before & After with Timorous Beasties
02.04.2019 Wall Hanging
Another wonderful make over with Timorous Beasties Thistle wallpaper this time in the south side of Glasgow. The client wanted to completely change the colours and feel of the victorian longe. The walls required significant filling with loads of hairline cracks crisscrossing the entire room and I wanted to en sure their would be no chance of them been seen even with 2 coats of Little Greene.

Noted for surreal and provocative textiles and wallpapers, the design studio, Timorous Beasties, was founded in Glasgow in 1990 by Alistair McAuley and Paul Simmons, who met studying textile design at Glasgow School of Art. The name of the company comes from a line in the poem ‘To a Mouse’ by famous Scottish Poet, Robert Burns.
One of their strengths is the ability to provide a bespoke service from custom colours to original artwork. All design work takes place at their Glasgow Studio, where they continue to hand-print many of their fabrics and wallpapers. In addition, their experimental approach and their investment in new design and manufacturing techniques have allowed them to move into other product areas including lace, jacquards, lighting, rugs and ceramics. Their designs have also been engraved on the stone cladding of Cabot Circus Shopping Centre in Bristol, granite over slabs for the Burns Museum in Ayr and bespoke gravestones. In 2011 work was finished on an aluminium trailing leaf installation on the exterior of Princes Square Shopping Centre in Glasgow.

Luxurious Chalky Emulsion
Chalky Emulsion gives a luxurious soft and chalky matt finish which emulates that of traditional distemper. The more deep and chalky the finish of a paint is, the brighter and richer the colour reflected is, Chalky Emulsion gives an unrivalled depth of colour and creates a feel of period elegance, but looks equally at home in a contemporary setting.
Although Chalky Emulsion emulates a traditional finish, it is a long lasting emulsion that gives superior coverage and can be wiped down. As it is water-based, Chalky Emulsion equipment such as brushes and rollers can be washed out in water.
One of our favourite effects uses Earthborn Eco Chic Claypaint for furniture and our Crackle medium to create a unique crackled effect. This look isn’t just for rustic or distressed styles of furniture painting – you can achieve a thoroughly modern feel on any type of furniture or even as artwork.

Bright Decor has done an excellent job on our property. Very professional From start to finish. Came to quote when he said he would, gave a very clear and detailed quote, reasonable price and kept to it. He started ahead of schedule and finished the job to a high standard. I was away the whole time and didn’t meet John, but that wasn’t an issue he made the whole process very easy. He also sent me photos of the job. I highly recommend this firm and will definitely use again.
